I have just finished a custom order for my friend, Kylie. She wanted name canvases for her nieces. Kylie shares my love of vintage and retro fabrics and gave me the freedom to choose the fabrics and colours for these canvases.
I have used vintage sheeting as a background for the felt lettering. I think they look great and playing with the different colours and prints has left me keen to use my stash of vintage sheeting in other projects too. I love this quilt on the Pins and Thimbles website and will definitely be giving that project a go when the market and festive madness is over.

I used to do a lot of cross stitch. It lost it’s appeal when my tastes changed but every so often I am re-inspired. A few years ago I made a piece for my sister, Louise, based on the work of Julie Jackson and her Subversive Cross Stitch kits. I was looking for a gift idea for another sister, Sally, who turned 16 in September. I came across a pattern in Mix Tape magazine by LoungeKat that read ‘Choose your own rebellion’. I adapted it a little. Okay, a fair bit. But I credit these cool designers with getting me back to the embroidery hoop.
