This is a bag that I made as a thank you gift for a friend. It gave me a chance to try out some new ideas too. I used some IKEA fabric which was already hemmed (I think it was intended to be used as a table runner or similar). It is a medium-heavy weight fabric so I didn’t bother lining it and just overlocked the seams. I wanted to add a little pocket for money, keys, etc so sewed a little pouch, added the button fastening and just sewed it to the fold on the top inside edge. The strap is quite long as the bag is designed to be worn across the chest.
A bad summer cold meant that I couldn’t work my shift at the hospital yesterday. Thankfully I am not too sick to sew

The week I have been experimenting with hair clips. Inspired by beautiful clips, such as those I recently purchased from pleaseeloise.etsy.com, I have been playing with buttons and my glue gun. The results are pictured above. I have so many beautiful vintage buttons and I plan on making more of these clips in the spare moments when it is just too hard to get the sewing machine out.
I am also hard at work learning about etsy.com and how to sell on-line. I have joined a great ’sales team’, DUST (Down Under Sales Team), that has been set up in order to support and promote Australian etsy sellers.
I spent the weekend at my mother’s house in Norther NSW. It was Channon Market day on Sunday. It is always inspirational and I hope to sell there one day. Watch this space!
