Cupcakes & Champagne

Emily & I hosted our ‘Cupcake & Champagne’ afternoon today.  Here are some images of all the stock laid out.

Friends and family came along to see our new stock and support our businesses.  We raised close to $100 for Paradise Kids - not a bad effort!

The cards and t-shirts sold well and I have lots of orders for bags that will keep me busy at the beginning of 2009.

Custom orders

This is one of the custom satchel bag orders that I have just finished.  I prioritised the order as a special request and also because I will display it at the ‘Cupcakes & Champagne’ afternoon.  I won’t be able to take any more Christmas orders but will happily take requests for custom work in 2009.

The ‘Cupcakes & Champagne’ afternoon is tomorrow.  Better start baking!

Cards

I finished making the cards today - 48 in total!  I have made good time with them and might try to get some more done before the ‘Cupcakes & Champagne’ afternoon.

This photo also shows off my lovely new Singer sewing machine.  I really enjoy using it.  I failed to heed A’s warning though and have already scratched the shiny silver face.  Oh well, it looks loved now.

No time to sit back and admire my sewing machine though -  I plan to cut out three of the custom satchel bag orders this evening.  Then there are more bags, t-shirts and Christmas gifts waiting to start.

Sunshine!

Today we have our first day of sunshine in a week.  The garden is a sodden mess after the rain and storms but everything looks lush and green.

I finished off the t-shirts yesterday.  Here is one of them.

Today I have made a start on the gift cards.  I have some custom orders for cards as well as stock to make for the ‘Cupcakes & Champagne’ afternoon.  I am aiming to make 50 over the next week.  Better get back to it!

Baby Bibs

I have a bonus child-free day today so have been machine-appliqueing baby bibs.  The bibs were purchased from a well-known chain store and came trimmed in a selection of colourful bias tape.  Just perfect for matching with fabric from my stash!

My next job is to start on the t-shirts.  I am planning a variety of sizes ( 000 - kids 8 ) with designs for girls and boys.  I have some great ‘boy’ fabric that I have been itching to use.  Look out for cowboys and spacemen.

Thank you to those who have left comments.  I didn’t realise this site would have a comments function - it was a nice surprise to find it!

T-shirts

Organic cotton t-shirts

Organic cotton t-shirts

I have just collected my order of organic cotton t-shirts.  The supplier is a Gold Coast-based company - it is great to use local businesses.

The t-shirts are made in Sydney at a sweat-free, carbon-neutral factory. The fabric is woven and finished in Australia from 100% certified organic cotton yarn.  How good is that?

The t-shirts will be machine appliqued with fabrics from my stash.  They will be available for sale at the Champagne and Cupcakes afternoon, and then on madeit.com and etsy.com.

Welcome to alipink!

I am hard at work preparing for the ‘Champagne & Cupcake’ afternoon at Emily’s house on 29th November.   Emily sells beautiful wooden toys (you can check then out at her website: www.betsea.com.au).  We are hoping to show off our new stock, make some sales and drink lots of champagne.  Oh, and donate some money to Gold Coast charity, Paradise Kids.

My new stock will include drawstring bags (like the one picutred) t-shirts and the ever-popular gift cards.

I have just taken another 3 custom orders for satchel bags and will be very busy in the lead-up to Christmas.  I need some elves!
